The municipality of Paphos signed an agreement with the Cypriot University of Technology (TEPAK) on the opening of the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship in the city.
This served as an impetus for discussing the issue of creating dormitories for future students.
On Saturday, October 9, members of the municipality held an official meeting with the wine-making company SODAP, at which they discussed the possibility of building a new student dormitory on the land belonging to SODAP.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Paphos Mayor Fedonas Fedonos noted that the municipality's proposal received a positive response from the SODAP managers.
The mayor noted that now all the forces of the municipality will be directed to the implementation of the idea that will help attract young people to Paphos.
He added that local officials will be in close contact with both SODAP head Andreas Pirpas and other board members of the company, as well as the coordinator of cooperation to make accurate relevant decisions. Fedonos also noted that both the city's municipality and SODAP serve the public interest.
For his part, the head of the board of SODAP Andreas Pirpas said that SODAP has a plot of land that the organization is ready to provide for the construction of student dormitories in Paphos in order to give the city a new breath and development.
As you may know, according to the release, the total area of the new dormitory will be 3 thousand m2. The project will take about 14 months from the start of work.
