The Cyprus Ministry of Transport has signed a contract for the construction of a dedicated bus lane on the Limassol seafront.
The project also includes the development of a cycle network and the modernisation of the city's infrastructure.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the municipality by the head of the Department of Public Works, Eleftherios Eleftheriou, and on behalf of the contractor by the director of Cyfield Construction Ltd, Despina Chrysochou. According to the press release, the major project includes
- Reconstruction of the road surface;
- Installation of modern bus stops;
- Construction of cycle lanes and parking areas;
- Creation of new car parking areas;
- Renewal of pavements;
- Pedestrian and cycle crossings such as 'Pelican' and 'Zebra';
- Installing modern traffic lights and road markings.

The cost of the project is estimated at €7,944,000 + VAT.
The implementation period will be 12 months. The money is expected to be allocated under the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP).
The project aims to develop and promote public transport, reduce traffic congestion and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists in Limassol.
