The construction of a multi-level parking facility worth 6.7 million euros in Paralimni will become a key project among the initiatives planned for implementation in 2026. This was announced on Monday, February 9, by the mayor of the Paralimni–Deryneia municipality, Giorgos Nicoletos. According to him, this year will be a period of “intensive development” for the entire region, reflecting a strategy of sustainable growth and urban environment renewal.
The total volume of projects planned for implementation is estimated at approximately 40 million euros. These funds will be directed toward social policy, sports and cultural infrastructure, urban renovation, traffic improvement, and the implementation of sustainable development principles, which corresponds to the nationwide course toward modernization of cities and improving quality of life.
Multi-level parking and transport infrastructure
The multi-level parking project in the center of Paralimni is already 35% complete. It is expected that once finished, it will significantly reduce the problem of parking shortages in the urban area by providing about 300 parking spaces. This facility is considered particularly important given the growth in tourist flow and the increase in the number of cars in the eastern part of Cyprus in recent years.
At the same time, the municipality is advancing a number of projects aimed at improving road safety and reducing transport load. These include the construction of a roundabout on Protaras – Cape Greco Avenue, the installation of additional traffic lights, and the renewal of road surfaces. These measures are intended to improve transport accessibility for both local residents and visitors to the region.

Urban environment, tourism, and new points of attraction
Among the significant initiatives is also the implementation of the fourth phase of the coastal pedestrian walkway, with a budget of 6 million euros. This project enhances the tourist attractiveness of the area and fits into the overall concept of coastal zone development with an emphasis on environmental friendliness and comfort.
Special attention is also given to the creation of new attractions. In particular, the installation of a panoramic elevator is planned near the chapel of Prophet Elijah, which will become a unique viewing platform for the entire region. It is expected that this facility will attract both tourists and local residents, increasing interest in the cultural and natural heritage of Paralimni.
Projects in Deryneia and Acheritou
In Deryneia, the creation of a cultural center is planned, along with the development of a green area and the modernization of Pavlos Liasidis Park. These projects are aimed at developing public spaces and supporting the cultural life of the municipality.
In the Acheritou area, work on the creation of a linear park worth 820 thousand euros is at an advanced stage. The new park is intended to become an important element of urban infrastructure, promoting active recreation and improving the environmental situation.
Investments in recent years and prospects
Since 2025, the Paralimni municipality has already invested more than 10 million euros in public projects. Combined with plans for 2026, this confirms a long-term course toward comprehensive regional development. Against the background of continued growth in interest in eastern Cyprus from investors and tourists, such initiatives strengthen the position of Paralimni–Deryneia as one of the most dynamically developing municipalities in the country.
