There are thousands of playgrounds in Cyprus. But most of them are not very varied.
An iron slide and swings are the Cypriot standard. If you are lucky, you will also find a balance swing. All this can be found in every corner of the island. I decided to make a fuss and look for a few modern playgrounds where a child could not only have fun but also be safe.
To disprove the theory of the local mothers who constantly complain about the lack of decent places to spend time with their children. As a result, it has turned out that the majority of the modern playgrounds are to be found in Limassol. Although it has to be admitted that other towns on the island can boast good playgrounds, although not in the same numbers as Limassol
Playground in the Limassol Municipal Park
A little over a year ago, an impressive playground appeared in the Limassol Municipal Park. It is very popular with the youngest residents of the city. However, parents also enjoy spending time here, sitting on the benches and drinking a frappe.
The excellent modern playground is divided into two themed areas: "The Magic Forest of Unicorns and The Wrath of Neptune. There are more than 20 play elements around the playground: Poseidon's throne, a small boat, Pegasus' home meadow, forest paths, unicorn swings, large trees, pavilions and even a tree house. The entire playground has a safe rubber surface, so there is no need to worry about your child's safety.
Playground at Dasoudi Park in Limassol
There is a cosy playground at Dasoudi beach in Limassol. This is perhaps the most famous place in the city among the local nannies who look after the children of visiting migrants. There are slides, "climbers", swings and other attractions for the children.
The surface of the playground is made of soft coloured rubber, so that falling is neither painful nor scary. On the contrary, it is a pleasure to play in the playground, especially in the Cypriot heat, as it is equipped with awnings all around and there are many shady trees around. Next to the playground there is a pavilion with amusement machines and rides.
Children's playground in Latchi
The children's playground in Latchi has several play areas for different ages - with slides, swings, houses, a ship and a climbing wall. The playground, with its unusual texture, immediately attracts children's attention and is perfect for developing their imaginative thinking. Different materials and shapes, the use of geoplastics, the division of the complex into zones for different age groups of children - all this opens up a huge space for play. The playground has a special surface that makes it impossible to get bruised or dirty while having fun. In addition to the wonderful play area, there are sports simulators and a football pitch. And all this right next to the sea!
Playground in Paphos
Another modern playground has recently opened in Paphos in the area of the new colour park. It is a large complex with a playground, a botanical garden, a skate park, a small football pitch, a tennis court, a basketball court and a 6 metre high climbing wall. The playground is also open at night: the play areas are floodlit.
Playground in Larnaca
The residents of Larnaca also have a cool playground. Swings, seesaws, slides, seesaws and various climbing structures made of safe materials will keep your child busy for a long time. The play area has an unusual design in the form of a castle, which will undoubtedly stimulate the imagination and encourage children to explore the world.
The entire play area is rubberised. There are comfortable benches around the perimeter for the comfort of the parents and fences for the safety of the children. The playground has inclusive elements for children with disabilities.
Agios Tychonas playground in Limassol
This is probably the coolest playground on the list. It is literally set up on the beach. The playground is decorated in the style of the Disney cartoon 'Peter Pan'. The multifunctional complex combines several types of equipment in one play area: ladders, swings, climbers, spatial nets. The centrepiece, however, is a giant ship that takes children to the mythical island of Neverland.
In order to move around the interior of the ship and overcome obstacles, visitors need to develop their climbing, balancing and orientation skills in a confined space, as well as their ability to communicate with other visitors to the playground.
