Aradippou: a district rich in history, infrastructure and charm

Aradippou, to the north-east of Larnaca, is one of the most dynamically developing areas in southern Cyprus. The municipality was established in 1986 and since then its development has accelerated considerably. From an agricultural village to a modern neighbourhood with many opportunities for comfortable living, Aradippou offers its residents everything they need for a quality life.

The history of the name of the district has several versions. One says that the name comes from the name of the first settler, Aradippos, who may have come from the island of Arad, off the coast of Syria. Another version suggests that the name is related to an ancient Greek settler called Radippos. Whatever the exact origin, these versions emphasise the ancient roots of the area, as confirmed by archaeological excavations from the Hellenistic and Roman periods.

Today, Aradippou is home to around 20,000 people and the population continues to grow due to new housing developments and investment opportunities. The Mayor of Aradippou is Christodoulos Partos, who actively supports the cultural and social development of the area, with a particular focus on environmental and infrastructure projects.

The average distance from Aradippou to the Mediterranean Sea is approximately 5-6 kilometres, depending on the specific location in the area. Aradippou is close to Larnaca and thanks to the good transport network, the nearest beaches are only a few minutes away by car.

Accessibility and Geographical Location

Aradippou is conveniently located at the crossroads of major transport arteries. It is only a few minutes drive from Larnaca International Airport and has easy access to Limassol and Nicosia via the A3 motorway. This makes the area an excellent choice for people who work in different parts of Cyprus as well as those who travel frequently.

The major Rizoelia junction on the A3 motorway also passes through the area, making Aradippa a major transport hub. This provides a convenient link to the centre of Larnaca and other towns on the island, which is particularly important for those who value fast and convenient travel.

Within the boundaries of the Aradippou Municipality is a large industrial area that serves a large part of the urban area and the whole of Cyprus. Next to it

Cultural life and theatres

The cultural life of Aradippou is actively developing thanks to the support of the local authorities. One of the central cultural facilities is the open-air Municipal Theatre at the Aradippou Gymnasium, named after Tassos Mitsopoulos. This modern theatre is the venue for many cultural events, including the summer festival 'Nights of Culture', as well as theatre productions and concerts. It has become an important part of the cultural life of the neighbourhood, providing opportunities for local residents and young talent to express themselves.
