According to new figures from the Land Department, 1,289 properties were sold in Cyprus in September 2024, compared to 1,336 sales in September last year. The decrease was estmated at 4%.
Looking at the details, only Nicosia and the vacant areas of Famagusta recorded a positive trend. The rest of the regions recorded a decline in residential sales in September.
The highest number of properties sold during the month was in Limassol - 392 units compared to 410 in September 2023. The decrease amounted to %. In second place was Paphos, where 266 contracts were signed (-8%), compared to 289 a year earlier. In third place was Nicosia. In this Cypriot city, 298 housing units were sold in September 2024, compared to 275 in the corresponding month of 2023. Sales in the capital of Cyprus increased by %.
In Larnaca, 259 contracts were signed in September 2024 compared to 298 a year earlier. The decrease was 13%. Finally, in the free areas of Famagusta, 74 sales contracts were signed in September 2024 compared to 64 in the same month of 2023. The increase was 16%.
In turn, 11,634 units were sold in Cyprus from January to September 2024. This figure is virtually unchanged from last year, when 11,519 properties were sold. The increase was only 1%.
Of the total number of transactions 2,593 in Nicosia, 2,497 in Larnaca, 3,691 in Limassol, 2,282 in Paphos, 571 in the free areas of Famagusta. The number of transactions increased in Nicosia and Larnaca by 20% and 6% respectively, and in the free areas of Famagusta (+1%). However, they fell in Limassol (-4%) and Paphos (-12%).
