At the end of November, the Larnaca Club is expected to be handed over, the restored building located opposite the "Pieridis Museum - Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation," to be used as a Multipurpose Center for Creativity and Culture.
As Larnaca Mayor Andreas Vyras told, "the Club building is a real jewel of the city that was left at the mercy of time while for decades it was on the verge of collapse. "In recent years, it was planned and co-financed by the Structural Funds of the European Union Social Cohesion Fund," he said, adding that "the project is expected to be delivered at the end of November to function as a "Multipurpose Center for Creativity and Culture."
After 1960, the building was handed over to the city's municipality and renamed it Larnaca Club.
Unfortunately, it was closed for the last 15 years as it was in deterioration. Thanks to funding from the EU, the restoration of this ancient and beautiful building has become possible. Very soon, it will house a center for cultural events.
According to Larnaca authorities, the Multipurpose Center for Creativity and Culture will become an essential landmark. It will attract not only residents but also visitors to the town. Besides, with the renovation of the courtyard, it will periodically host exhibitions and open-air cinema screenings.
