The environmental authority lit up the green to create a parking lot that will serve Larnaca airport, located a short distance from the Larnaca salt pans.
The project, which will concern the creation of a parking space and car rental for travellers at Larnaca airport in the municipality of Dromolaxia - Meneou in the province of Larnaca, is being considered in derogation from the provisions of the Larnaca Local Plan.
As noted in the positive opinion, the environmental authority considered it necessary to consult the hunting and fauna service, because the plot understudy is about 100m from the protected area Natura 2000 "Larnaca Saltworks.
In particular, the proposed project, which is being considered in derogation from the Larnaca Local Plan's provisions, concerns an application for the creation of a parking space and car rental for travelers at Larnaca Airport.
The project is proposed to be located on block 495, which falls in the urban protection zone Da2 (81%) and Ga2 (19%), is flat and is situated between the public road and the interurban road leading from the roundabout of Kalo Chorio to Larnaca airport. Inside the plot, there is an existing small building that will be demolished, while the plot's current use is agricultural.
The parking lot will be covered with asphalt and will have a capacity of 126 vehicles.
Based on the additional information submitted, there will be no on-site vehicle washing, oil change, or other vehicle maintenance work. The company managers will cooperate with approved licensed companies in the area for the execution of these works.
