The Municipality of Paphos is taking another essential step to implement the strategic goal for the transformation of the city into "smart" and "digital." Today, the Tender for implementing the low power wireless network type LoRaWAN ™ was announced, which will cover in scope the entire area of the Municipality of Paphos.

The estimated cost of the project is 720,000 euros and the installation period is six months. The network will be the common infrastructure on which will be based planned and future IoT (Internet of Things) and "Smart City" applications that will be developed. It will allow the connection and communication of sensors-devices with their respective applications, for example, smart parking.
The LoRaWAN ™ protocol is an ideal choice in this case. It provides low power and long-range, thus ensuring the most extended possible battery life of the devices, the interconnection of thousands of devices with a small number of routers, and low operating costs in the long run.
