According to statistic CyStat, a total of 1129 building permits worth approximately 346 million EUR were issued during this period, and with a total area of 315 553 square meters.
Building permits for 98 large projects worth approximately €185 000 000 were issued by municipal authorities and provincial administrations in the first two of 2020.
Compared to the same period of 2019, there is an increase of 5.6% in the number of building permits issued (1069 in the corresponding period of 2019), 21% in the value of permits and 10.7%in the total area, with the number of housing units to show an increase of 22.4%.
Most of the building permits granted in the first two months of 2020 were in Nicosia (424), Limassol (361), Larnaca (148), Paphos (142) and Famagusta (54).
At the same time, the total cost of the projects, then Limassol leads - €120 400 000, then Nicosia – €116 900 000, Larnaca – €56 300 000, Paphos – €28 600 000 and Famagusta – €23 600 000.
Regarding the residential buildings, with the permits, it is foreseen to build 1376 residential units. Of these licenses, 610 relate to single-family homes, with a total value of €126.400 000. In addition, 202 building permits were issued for buildings with two or more houses, which will build 896 residential units with a total value of €147 200 000.
In the first two months of 2020, 150 building permits were granted for non-residential buildings, of which 23 are hotels and similar buildings with a total value of €22 900 000. Specifically, 2 permits were granted for hotels, 6 permits for tourist apartments and villages, and 15 permits for restaurants, cafes, and pubs. At the same time, during this period, 20 building permits were issued for office buildings with a total value of 16.2 million EUR, 19 licenses for wholesale and retail buildings worth €1 900 000, as well as 22 permits for industrial buildings are warehouses total worth €8 600 000.
