The Central Bank of Cyprus released on Wednesday, March 3 fresh data on loans issued in January 2021.
According to the Central Bank's report, in the first month of the new year, the total amount of new loans fell to EUR 208.0 million, compared with EUR 357.4 million in the previous month.
The volume of New housing loans fell to €76.1 million (it was €111.0 million in December 2020).
The volume of small business loans (less than EUR 1 million) decreased to EUR 49.4 million in January 2021, compared with EUR 54.6 million last month.
The volume of big business loans (EUR 1 million and more) decreased to EUR 61.7 million in January 2021, compared with EUR 158.2 million a month before.
New consumer loans fell to €11.6 million, compared with EUR 20.3 million in December 2020.

As you may know, from January to December 2020, the volume of new loans issued by banks in Cyprus decreased by 25%. The country issued over the year loans for EUR 2.4 billion, compared with EUR 3.2 billion in the same period in 2019.
