Which platforms will be unavailable, and when will access be restored?

Electronic services of the Cyprus Tax Department will be temporarily suspended due to scheduled technical modernization. As the department reported, the infrastructure upgrade is necessary to improve system stability, strengthen cybersecurity, and enhance the quality of user service. In recent years, online tax platforms have been experiencing increasing load due to the growing number of electronic returns and online payments, so the upgrade has become a necessary step.

Which platforms will be unavailable and for how long

The main digital systems of the Tax Department will not be operational from 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, until 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 26. During this period, the following will be unavailable: the Tax For All platform, the TAXISnet tax portal, as well as the “Overdue debt” section on the government portal gov.cy. The department emphasizes that the shutdown is temporary and is solely related to technical works.

Recommendations for taxpayers

Citizens and companies are asked to completely refrain from any actions in the specified systems during the modernization period. Even if access to the services temporarily appears, using the platforms may lead to malfunctions, incorrect data processing, or data loss. The Tax Department advises completing the filing of returns, tax payments, and debt checks in advance, if deadlines allow this to be done before the technical works begin.

What will change after the modernization

According to the Tax Department, after the upgrade is completed, users can expect more stable system performance, faster request processing, and improved protection of personal data. As part of Cyprus’s broader digital strategy, the authorities are gradually expanding the range of electronic services, aiming to reduce paper-based document flow and simplify citizens’ interaction with public authorities.

The Tax Department apologized for any inconvenience and thanked Cyprus residents for their understanding and cooperation, noting that the short-term restrictions will help ensure more reliable and modern operation of tax online services in the future.
