The company overseeing the reconstruction of the legendary Berengaria Hotel in the Troodos Mountains has published an impressive video featuring snowy landscapes around the historic building. An unusual snowfall for Cyprus turned the area around the hotel into a snow-white postcard and became a symbol of the revival of one of the island’s most famous hotel complexes. The accompanying message emphasizes that the rare winter scene served as a reminder of the value of time, careful stewardship of heritage, and respect for the place where history is still alive.
The return of a Troodos legend
The Berengaria Hotel was long considered the “queen” of mountainous Cyprus and an architectural jewel of the region. Today it is preparing to once again take a key place on the country’s tourist map. The project combines historical authenticity with modern luxury and is aimed at travelers seeking a unique experience, seclusion, and closeness to nature. The renovation became possible thanks to investments totaling €35 million. The updated complex is expected to be managed by Thanos Hotels & Resorts. The completion of works and the hotel’s opening are scheduled for mid-2026, which is already generating heightened interest from tourists and investors.
The new format of Berengaria Luxury Boutique Hotel
After reconstruction, Berengaria will reopen as a premium boutique hotel. The historic building will house 30 residences, including spacious suites, family rooms with connecting rooms, and classic rooms. In addition, the project includes apartments, townhouses, and separate villas seamlessly integrated into the surrounding forest landscape. This format aligns with modern tourism market trends, where privacy, space, and a high level of service are valued.

Architecture and atmosphere: respect for the past
The hotel’s interior and exterior spaces are being designed with an emphasis on the harmony of traditional style and modern design solutions. Special attention is paid to preserving the building’s historic appearance. The facades highlight the characteristic gray stone, the windows retain their original proportions, and the roof returns to its historic geometry. All changes are carried out as delicately as possible to preserve the heritage rather than overshadow it.
On the first level of the building, a multifunctional public space is being created with a restaurant, café, cozy lounge areas, and fireplace rooms. The restored fireplaces will once again become the focal point on cool mountain evenings, while large glass openings will reveal panoramic forest views, blurring the boundary between interior and nature.
Open-air spaces and a connection with nature
The area around the hotel is also undergoing radical changes. On the site of the old pool, a modern outdoor recreation area is being formed with a new lounge space and bar. This level is conceived as a panoramic platform from which guests can enjoy views of the Troodos conifer forest and feel complete unity with nature—something especially valued in the era of eco-friendly and mindful tourism.
Spa and wellness in the heart of the mountains
One of the key components of the renovated complex will be a luxurious spa center located below the building’s main level. It will feature an indoor heated pool, yoga and fitness areas, massage rooms, a sauna, and a jacuzzi. Large windows fill the space with light and open views of the surrounding forest, creating an atmosphere of complete relaxation and recovery, making Berengaria an attractive destination for wellness tourism.
Suites, towers, and panoramic views
On the upper levels of the hotel there will be suites and apartments, many of which will have balconies with views of the forested areas, and in clear weather—of the coasts of Morphou and Tillyria. The building’s iconic towers, including the central one above the entrance, are being preserved and will become home to the most exclusive rooms. The interiors use natural materials, soft tones, and textures that create a sense of coziness and calm.
Residential residences in the forest
Around the main building, a residential cluster is being developed with villas, maisonettes, and studios designed with the natural terrain in mind. Low building density, preservation of most trees, and the use of natural materials make it possible to harmoniously integrate the architecture into the forest. Spacious terraces and courtyards ensure privacy and direct contact with nature, making the project attractive not only for tourists but also for long-term living.
The renovated Berengaria promises to become one of Cyprus’s brightest hotel projects, bringing together history, nature, and modern comfort and opening a new chapter in the Troodos legend.
