On the site of the former winery SODAP, which is located in the western part of Limassol, a modern commercial quarter will be constructed.
As it became known, the territory and all the buildings of the large factory have recently passed into the hands of an international consortium of Cypriot and foreign investors.
The new owners plan to carry out a major upgrade of the site on the first coastal line and create a new quarter of office buildings for companies working in IT, research and innovation sectors.
It is worth noting that for the land area of over 38 thousand m2 between the marina of Limassol and the new port international consortium has paid 32.5 million euros. On its territory, there are several old buildings of 7.5 thousand square meters, which are included in the list of industrial heritage of Cyprus.
It is expected that the historic buildings will not be demolished and will be restored and adapted for the needs of local businesses. In the future banks, stock exchanges, forex business and other commercial companies of the city will be concentrated in the new quarter.

Recall that the SODAP winery was opened on the outskirts of Limassol in 1947. The choice of the location was based on two factors - relatively inexpensive land and close access to the seaport.
Initially the factory specialized in the production of zivania and raisins, but gradually wine-making workshops and warehouses appeared on the premises. In the early 2000's all the production facilities were transferred to the new, modern SODAP factory at Stroumpei - Polemy in Paphos and the Limassol factory was closed down and offered for sale.
For a long time the land and premises were empty, and now they have finally decided to give them a new life. By the way, in the near future a new project will be announced for the construction of multi-story office buildings. Aktea Avenue, which will run parallel to the coastline between the marina and the port, will be the main traffic artery in the new financial district. Beautiful palm trees will be planted along it.
